2012 marks the 70th anniversary of the now legendary Kokoda Campaign. To highlight this anniversary, Back Track will conduct a number of special 70th Anniversary Treks that will coincide with the dates that each of these battles were fought. A highlight of each 70th Anniversary Trek will be the commemorative ceremony that will be held at each battle site on the anniversary dates. You are invited to join us in 2012 for a very special Kokoda experience. The Kokoda Campaign Anniversary Treks are marked with the Commemorative badge on the Team Dates below.

Kokoda Track Itinerary
If your reason for doing the Track is in respect and for the memory of the soldiers who fought and died there, to understand the history of the campaign, to visit all the sacred sites, for the personal physical and mental challenge and to have a fun, safe experience – then our 9 day/8 night Campaign Itinerary is the best and will satisfy all of the reasons mentioned. Add to this itinerary, your PNG arrival day and your PNG departure day makes your overall itinerary 11 days to and from Australia. In 2012 Back Track will operate 3 variations to our Campaign Itinerary:
- Teams 1-2 and 4-17 trek our Campaign Itinerary starting at the village of Kokoda and trekking south to Ower’s Corner. The trip lasts 11 days, with a 9 day trek.
- ANZAC Day Team 3 treks a reversed Campaign Itinerary starting at Owner’s Corner and completing the trek in the village of Kokoda. The trip lasts 11 days, with a 9 day trek.
- Our Kokoda Anniversary – Fuzzy Wuzzy Day treks (18 and 19) operate with a special Kokoda Anniversary itinerary to take in the day of festivities celebrating the contribution of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels. This trek is therefore 1 day longer than our Campaign Itinerary and will be on the Track for 10 days/9 nights. Both Teams 18 and 19 meet at Kokoda for the celebrations on November 3. Teams 18 and 19 cost $100 more than our standard trek.
