GALLEY REACH Full Day Fishing Charter

All in all it is a great fun day out on the water. No guarantees that you’ll land a black bass, but, your expert local guide will try his best and you’ll be taken to all the hot spots (local knowledge counts).

We will arrange to have you picked up from our our hotel (the Holiday Inn)  after an early breakfast and dropped back after your fishing adventure.   On all one day fishing charters  at Galley Reach, up to 4 rivers can be used which are decided upon on the day depending on tide and weather conditions. All these rivers produce quality PNG Black Bass, Barramundi, Finger Mark, Mangrove Jack and Trevally. Techniques used include top water casting, divers (casting and trolling) and live baiting (tilapia).

To get there we drive between 40-90 minutes from Port Moresby and launch from village ramp sites that have been specially set up with the local communities. Arrange your lunch and drinks the night before with the catering staff at the Holiday Inn and eskies and ice will be provided to keep your lunch and drinks cold.

    Wild River Fishing Testimonial

“Within an easy distance from Port Moresby, the Galley Reach area is a fishing gem. Because of the mass of water area and the fairly light fishing pressure you can be assured of plenty of uninterrupted water, in the large or small rivers, the creeks or the wide open spaces. The area is home to a great range of fish species and fishing styles. Everything from Black Bass, Barramundi and Mangrove Jack to Fingermark, Bream and even GT’s. And some of them are BIG and they all will give you the sporting fight you are looking for. If you want to troll, cast or live bait you can do it all. And as an added bonus, the scenery is just gorgeous.”

    Track or Trail?

Kokoda Track or Kokoda Trail? Either term is acceptable. Both are respectful and excepted by the majority of campaign veterans. The Track you walk is the exact war time Track from Kokoda to Ower's Corner. You will be walking in the footprints of  the heroes of the Kokoda campaign.
